Active Math - Alberta Learning
40+ modules for Grade 10 and 11
students. Produced in English and French, these interactive modules
help students interactively learn trigonometry, calculus, geometry
and other subjects covered within the grade 10 and 11 curriculum.
Many are video-based, containing interviews with professionals who
use these skills every day on the job. This provides a very important
link to career planning and a practical application of math principles
that students can relate to. All were produced using Director and
Quicktime and are CD-ROM based.

Alberta Agriculture - Farm Safety
"Lost on the Farm" is an interactive
CD-ROM for kids, sponsored by Alberta Agriculture, TransAlta Utilities
and Nova Corporation. This is one of the more "fun" projects we've
worked on, since it's completely animated and features on screen
characters who talk to each other.
The disk features one day in the life of "Cyber Sam," a spaceman
who crash lands just outside a farm in Western Canada. During the
search for Cyber's "lost crystals," the user goes through a series
of puzzles, or games, in which they are required to test their knowledge
of farm safety.

Chemistry - Alberta Learning
High school students in Alberta
have a number of hi-tech methods of learning through the use of
CD-ROM or web-based instructional learning programs. We developed
three modules that link to currently produced programs developed
for the chemistry department of Alberta Learning. The Periodic Table
interactively provides just about any information you would ever
need on the elements, while the glossaries let students look up
words from within other programs and link to a video-based explanation.

TransAlta Utilities
This is an internal in-depth training program. The program allows
the user to get up to speed at their own pace on rate structure
and billing procedures. Simple visual representations and animation
are some of the ways to explain complex ideas in a simple way.
There are exercises built into the program that allow the system
administrator to check on the user's knowledge of the information.
Media One developed the structure based upon TransAlta's course
content.

Transit
A prototype developed for Calgary Transit, this program concentrates
on signals training for new hires. Through the use of interactive screens
of light rail transit trains in a variety of situations, the student can
make decisions on what speed to adopt based upon conditions. There is
a testing module that grades the participant on their knowledge of signals.
By dragging one of a number of train cars into position, the student can
simulate real situations they might encounter on the job.
